1. Introduction

This call for proposals is based on Council Decision 2000/821/EC on the implementation of a programme to encourage the development, distribution and promotion of European audiovisual works (MEDIA Plus — Development, Distribution and Promotion — 2001 to 2005), adopted by the Council on 20 December 2000.
The actions to be implemented under this Decision include:
1. promotion and access to professional markets:
(a) to improve the conditions for access by professionals to trade shows and professional audiovisual markets within and outside Europe via specific technical and financial support schemes;
(b) to encourage the creation of a database and/or a network of databases on catalogues of European programmes intended for professionals;
(c) to encourage, whenever possible, support for the promotion of cinematographic works, starting from the production phase of the work in question;

2. activities to promote European films and audiovisual programmes:
to encourage professionals, in close association with the Member States, to organise activities targeting the general public and promoting European cinema and audiovisual productions.

2. Aim
This notice is addressed to European organisations and operators contributing to the actions referred to above.
It explains how to obtain the documents required for submitting a proposal with a view to obtaining a financial contribution from the Community.
The Commission department responsible for administering this call for proposals is the ‘Audiovisual support’ unit within the Directorate-General for Education and Culture.
Organisations and operators wishing to respond to this call for proposals and to receive the guidelines for the submission of proposals to obtain financial support in connection with ‘promotion’ measures should send their request by post or fax to:

The closing dates for lodging proposals are:
- 22 September 2003
for actions organised between 1 January 2004 and 31 March 2004;
- 31 October 2003 for actions organised between 1 April 2004 and 31 December 2004.

Support for television broadcasting of European audiovisual works

1. Introduction
This call for proposals is based on Council Decision 2000/821/EC of 20 December 2000 on the implementation of a programme to encourage the development, distribution and promotion of European audiovisual works (MEDIA Plus — Development, Distribution and Promotion — 2001 to 2005) that was published in the Official Journal of the European Communities L 13, 17 January 2001, p. 35.
The measures covered by the Decision include support for television broadcasting of European audiovisual works.

2. Purpose
This notice is intended for independent European television production companies whose activities contribute to the attainment of the above objectives. It explains how to obtain the necessary documents in order to apply for financial support from the Community for proposals.
The Commission department responsible for administering this call for proposals is the Unit for ‘Support for audiovisual content’ in DG EAC, the Directorate-General for Education and Culture.
European companies wishing to respond to this call for proposals and receive the document ‘Guidelines for the submission of proposals to obtain a financial contribution in the sector of distribution — Support for television broadcasting of European audiovisual works’ should send their request by post or fax to:
