General
objectives
|
| To
be eligible for financing under this restricted call for
proposals, operations must be aimed at reducing maternal
mortality and morbidity in accordance with the Millennium
Objectives. The emphasis will be on the accessibility
and quality of obstetric care to reduce maternal mortality
and morbidity at childbirth, the priority being operations
targeting the poorest groups and/or those for whom the
risk of maternal mortality is greatest.

Target
group
|
| An
applicant wishing to present a proposal must belong to
one of the following categories: non-governmental organisations,
public-sector operators distinct from the State (Whether
a potential applicant is likely to be considered as falling
under this description will depend on the extent to which
such an applicant can demonstrate that it is independent
of the State as regards decision-making, budgetary control
and the appointment of staff (including members of its
controlling body), local authorities, research or training
institutions, international organisations. |

Geographical
area
|
| Operations
must be carried out in one or more least developing countries
(on the DAC list of LDCs). Priority will be given to operations
concerning countries or regions where the risk of maternal
mortality is greatest. |

(b) Maximum grant per operation: EUR 2 500 000
(c) Maximum proportion of operation costs to be covered
